So long story short, at the time SC2 came out, dudemain and I were pretty much done figuring out how to do SG in WC3. Anyone here who's played SC2 has obviously seen the glaring similarities between the SC2 environment and the kind of tools that would be required for a cutting edge SG remake. So it's getting done. Right now, there are already people helping out with parts of the project. This post isn't meant to be a debate about the direction of the mod or a request for suggestions, but I wanted to ask if anyone here would like to be a part of the project while we can still use some extra hands to speed up the process. If you are comfortable with basic coding, I'd have you design specific elements of the infrastructure using the trigger tool in the sc2 editor. If not, there is plenty of simpler but more boring manual labor like unit data entry, map design and such.

If you'd like to participate, reply or message me with what you could see yourself doing.

If you guys need a trashman, well I'm in

Sounds like fun though, makes me wish I knew useful things for a project like that.

<-Knows nothing about coding, but I am so glad to hear this. Hopefully it comes out nice with not to many problems for you guys as it would be great to be able to play SG. Any chance this version you are coding will work on a Mac(idk if this matters since sc2 already works on a mac)

It's a simple SC custom map. If your computer can run SC2, it will run this.

As Cres previously mentionned, we've already worked on a few aspects of the game with Warcraft III editor, so make sure you're not wasting your time on things we already know how to code. Douchefag.

i am a little lost, but it sounds cool. I take it this will be a stand alone game or a custom map mode of some sort? Anything SG I am up for to see. I can test.

A big thing with the original Starcraft was the ability to use the map editor to make custom maps that were nothing like SC. If you look up some of the videos online that people have made about they're own custom maps, it shows just what kind of power the SC2 map editor has. I saw one yesterday that had you playing a ghost character as a FPS shooting at hybrid and zergling "zombies".

I'd love to help out, but I'm going camping all next week. After that, I could probably spend a couple hours a week on a side project.

I haven't played with the SC2 editor before, what's the language similar to? If it's similar to perl/python, I could probably pick it up pretty quickly.

I'm fairly familiar with the editor but I know nothing about real languages so I'll let Dude or MZ answer that one.

Maybe in the sense that I actually need to fool around with the map editor first before commenting whether or not I can make a map.

I'd love to help with all the mundane stuff since my programming days are pretty much behind me (they were few regardless), but I've got my youtube channel, as well as the group channel I'm involved with, keep me pretty busy. When you guys have working alpha/betas up, I'd love to get them up as progress reports on my channel though.
