Buying a Bike

Recommended Posts

Not really my style, and not really all that cheap, but Levi's just rolled out some cycling-targeted clothing that looks almost normal:

Cool idea, but 100% fail on only providing them in 'skinny' cut, since anybody who seriously cycles is going to eventually have well-developed quads, and will no longer fit 'skinny' jeans.

So I'm probably not going to be riding throughout the winter. I don't want to spend the money on the gear, and it doesn't appeal to me.

That being said, I'll need to store my bike for the winter. We have a bike rack behind my building, but it isn't covered. Do you think it will be fine to stay outside throughout the winter if I cover it with a tarp? Any other tips are welcome.

Thanks!

No worries with thieves as my building is safe.

After some Google searches and your suggestion, I'm bringing it inside. Not sure where I can put it since I have no storage, but I'll find a way.

I did give it a bike shower last night to clean off the dirt from the fall. Already have some rust on the chain and gears. I purchased some lube yesterday for the bike and will put that on it before I store it.

My best bet is to remove the tires and then chain the bike to the railing in the stairwell. Hopefully I won't get fined. <_<

If you can put smallish holes in the walls, these arn't bad:

If not, I've got one of these, and I like it a bunch.

There's a bunch of indoor storage ideas out there, hope you can find something that works for you.

I'll definitely agree that it should be inside though... Weather is hell on bikes, especially if you are NOT riding them.
