I just saw that today as well, I'm going with 4/5 stars though. As far as action flicks go, this is definitely one of the better ones.

I did like the situational comedy that was thrown in, along with some subtle jokes about current events thrown in.

watched being there, with peter sellers. the movie was a little slow at times, but he is amazing in anything he does. also, the best part about this movie is explaining the plot to your significant other.

second also, my gal says 2012 is a piece of shit : D

went to the theaters last week and saw two movie(ish)s.

paid for and loved the rifftrax of reefer madness plus some hilarious shorts. brought me back to my younger days of watching new mst3k episodes with my brother. except replace my shitty tv with a large screen and my shitty brother with a pretty packed house of awesome nerds. Everyone should see this. Grade: A++. The extra plus is completely necessary.

After that, my pal decided we should sneak into scott pilgrim.

I was a tiny bit opposed to seeing this because i think michael cera doing his "michael cera" was at his best as george-michael on arr dev. though, he was pretty swell and so was the movie. ill let this fellas review speak for me cuz im hungry and needs me some breakfast. Grade: A.

Piranhas 3-D.

If you liked Drag me to Hell, you will like this gory campy horror movie. It's got the right amount of comedy, the right amount of nudity, and the right amount of gut-wrenching ways a human being can die to huge 3-D CGI piranhas. Oh and yes, they show a penis being eaten and then spit out to increase the amount of time you sit in the audience seat going "AHHHHHHHHHH IM GOING TOOOO PUUUKE". Best parts about the movie: Richard Dreyfuss is the first victim, that guy from Sliders as an annoying porn director, and cameo by Christopher Lloyd as the fish scientist, I kept expecting him to say "WE MUST GO BACK TO THE FUTURE TO SAVE THE WORLD FROM THESE PIRANHAS".

Last time I checked on Rotton Tomatoes it was at 82% positively reviewed, I highly recommend it, one of the best horror movies of all time... up there with Drag me to Hell and the Hills Have Eyes. Go watch it in theaters. Just don't bring your Grandma as there are an excessive amount of naked women scenes, not to mention the penis being eaten scene...

okay so did anyone see "Vampires Suck" because it looked great and stupidly funny in a Scary Movie kinda way. I'll probably rent it when I get the chance in a few months.

I personally loved Date Night and Kick Ass which we rented last week.

And I finally went to see Inception, which I loved but maybe I was a bit disappointed because I heard it was like so "uberly awesome" and really "deep" and it just didn't seem *that* "deep" to me.

(using spoiler tags so I don't cause EHJ forum breakdown like I did last year :P )

Although, like someone else mentioned, coming up with the theory behind it all could be why its worth it. I had my own personal theory that I THOUGHT was going to be the end, but instead it left it open so I guess everyone's theories are still workable even after the movie is over? Classic "Lady or the Tiger" story that doesn't resolve the end. Perhaps I'm just not a huge fan of those endings. I hated that story in Jr. High.

I watched a movie called, 180 South, last night. About a trip to Patagonia and much more about surfing/mountain climbing. If you have any interest in nature, surfing, travel, climbing this is a great movie. It has a ton of great points and is based off of a journey of some pretty well known major company founders. The mesh between the current journey, and the journey made decades ago is fantastic.

5/5

I watched Inception a bit ago. I recommend watching it, but I thought the movie was a bit lacking in a few areas. I 'guessed' the plot twist quite early on and it was easy to follow for me. But saying that, it was still superb overall.

I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell: Meh.

Read the book dear god. First off you get all the stories, not just a movie filled with a few ideas from some of them. And two, it doesn't suck.

Just watched 'Crazy Heart' from ye ole netflix. I was suprised, I liked it. I'm not a big fan of musicals/music movies. They tend to be way too heavy on singing for my liking, however, this movie is nothing like that. Jeff Bridges does a phenomenal job of acting in this movie, I watched the movie just because of his winning an oscar for the role, and he 100% deserved it.

I've come to realize Jeff Bridges relatively late, he has somehow slipped my notice for the majority of my 23 years of life, but i've recently started watching his movies, and the guy is a great actor. He may take the spot as my #2 favorite actor behind Jack.

Btw, The Big Lebowski, which I saw for the first time a week ago, is an incredible movie. One of my favorites now, coen brothers are great, and the acting is superb... john goodman + jeff bridges great dysfunctional chemistry together.

Definitely check out 'The Big Lebowski' and 'Crazy Heart'

Really enjoyed Crazy Heart as well. Maggie G. is also superb in the movie.

Carny, I recently went on a Jeff Bridges kick as well. Here is a list of movies that you should see that star Mr. Bridges:

The Fisher King

Fearless

K-Pax

The Fabulous Baker Boys

I have not seen Starman yet, but I hear that is also a must-watch.

Just watched it; great movie... I liked the ending. He's pretty much AI - the movie had some pretty big implications on our society and a good overall meaning.

Anyone watched Sorcerer's Apprentice? The CG looks amazing so I am planning to go see it.

I just saw this in the buck-fifty theater, and felt ripped off.

The CGI is good; but a few scenes I remember from the trailer didn't make it to the movie.

The plot has holes in it. I don't mean in the typical way where things seem to make sense, but then are stupid after a big reveal 30 minutes later makes you question why earlier choices were made*. Sure, those exist, but on top of that there are huge chunks of the movie that seem to be missing, like they filmed all the action sequences, then forgot to fill in the scenes where the story moves from one scene to the other. There were several times where characters act on information they did not have, and nowhere do they show how they could have acquired it. In short, all those boring scenes with 'plot', 'exposition', and 'talking', are mostly cut out of the movie, leaving 1 1/2 hours of CGI special-effects action-packed nonsense.

* -e.g. if he was a double-agent, why'd he save the protagonist earlier when by merely letting him die, he'd have won and gotten away with it?

So I'm having an argument with a friend about zombie movies. He claims that you cannot become an instant zombie. Every zombie movie so far always had a delay between inital infection and actually turning into a zombie.

I say he's wrong and there has to be at least one zombie movie where you instantly become a zombie, regardless of what happens.

I honestly can't think of one but I don't want to lose this argument... so... anyone know of zombie movies where there is no delay between infection/turning into one?

He argues that it takes hours (unless killed then the delay is drastically reduced, sometimes to near-instant) in every film for any infected to turn.

I say it's possible for "look at zombie, turn to one instantly" - OKAY maybe not that literal but the shorter the delay, the better it plays in my favor.

I felt the same way after Inception. Like so many people told me "how amazing" it was and how deep the plot was, and how you had to watch it 3x to catch everything and truly understand it.

And I felt like I had it built up so much from all the excellent reviews that when I actually watched it I was like "um.....thats it?"

But I think it might have been the build up that lead to the overall semi-disappointment.

Any other good movies out there? I'm feeling old and boring right now and I want to watch the Waiting for Superman movie on American Education or something as I've not heard anything else thats good right now. But I don't have hoards of time, so if I devote time to watching some boring RL movie I'll have to do it in sacrifice to watching some make-believe fantasy movie that I'd personally rather devote my free time to ^_^

I saw the movie "Hereafter" this past weekend, and it was pretty good. I not a huge Matt Damon fan and was happy to find out that he really doesn't play that big of a role in the movie. Despite the movie being about death, it barely mentions religion at all (which didn't go over too well with them crazy religious folk). I would definitely recommend this movie to the mature crowd who can still enjoy a movie without graphic violence, slapstick humor, or gratuitous nudity (it's pg-13).

Love and Other Drugs: I really liked this movie. Great human drama, mostly character driven. Anne Hathaway is naked throughout the first half of the movie.
