Windows 8

Recommended Posts

I had to get a new laptop and it came with Windows 8.  I heard there is an upgrade or something coming out to go back to the traditional Windows platform, but in the mean time I cannot stand the new format with the tiles and what not.

I always use the traditional Desktop view, but I don't know how to get the Start button to appear on the taskbar.  Does anyone know where I go within Settings/ Config to get that button on the desktop view?

Thanks.

If you hit the windows button it will take you to the desktop or select the tile that says desktop. Once there it looks just like windows 7.

Correct, but the taskbar on the bottom doesn't have the "Start" button.  Not having that button makes it tough for me to use.

Here's a little secret.

Press the windows key, then type in whatever program you want to open.

Don't even need to worry about tiles.
